Water Damage FAQs

How can you tell if water damage is permanent?

Answer

Water damage may be permanent when a material remains swollen, warped, soft, delaminated, stained through, weakened, or unable to return to a serviceable condition after the moisture source is corrected and drying is complete. Odor, recurring staining, loose finishes, sagging drywall, deteriorated cabinet components, or distorted flooring can also justify further evaluation.

Appearance alone does not confirm moisture content or structural condition. Concealed moisture, electrical concerns, microbial growth, or damage behind finishes should be evaluated by qualified professionals using appropriate methods. Some materials can be cleaned, dried, or refinished, while others require partial or complete replacement. Westpeak evaluates the visible reconstruction scope after mitigation and can rebuild affected drywall, flooring, cabinets, trim, and interior finishes once the property is ready for repairs.
